Tyler visits the Nutritious Movement Podcast #192

On November 12th Venn creator Tyler Benner visited the Nutritious Movement Podcast, episode #192. We want to acknowledge Katy Bowman and Jeannette Loram for their prolific thought leadership and for building Move Your DNA into an inspiring, 192 episode archive of real movement education. Venn is proud to sponsor the show, and Tyler is continually motivated by the kind of friendship and creative partnership that only minds like theirs make possible.

A conversation about posture, design, and the through-line that connects everything we make
Tyler’s segment starts at: ~55:40

Tyler recently joined Jeannette Loram on Katy Bowman’s Move Your DNA podcast. Katy introduced him as someone who brings “genius energy” to his work, and anyone who has followed Venn Design or Strong Feet Athletics understands why. Tyler has always had a way of taking disciplines that look separate from the outside and revealing the structure that connects them. Archery. Physics. Furniture. Foot strength. Cycling. Alignment is the through-line, and this episode gave listeners a clear view of how those ideas come together.

On the show, Jeannette asked about the origins of Venn, the development of the Air Chair, and the new Revolution Fabrics now on the site. Tyler explained how small design choices change the way a body interacts with its environment, and why Venn continues to build objects that help people sit lower, move more, and treat posture as something dynamic instead of fixed.

They also discussed the Shot Trainer and the surprising physics behind learning to support force without collapsing while shooting an arrow. That same physics awareness eventually led Tyler to question what his feet were doing during archery, running, and everyday life. Strengthening them changed his alignment enough to rethink the role footwear plays in performance. The new foot shaped cycling shoe is the result of more than a decade of prototyping, iteration, and refusal to accept a design that interfered with natural mechanics. Now that riders are putting thousands of miles on the production shoes, the feedback has confirmed what he knew all along. When the foot can function, everything above it organizes more optimally.

What we appreciate most at Venn is that Katy recognized this long before it was obvious to others. She understood the thread Tyler was following because her own work is about reconnecting people to the mechanical logic of their bodies. Both Venn and Nutritious Movement focus on helping people create environments that support healthier movement patterns. Katy does this through education. We do it through objects and spaces.

We are especially excited for Katy’s 2025 Exercise Advent. Her Advents have a way of inviting people back into their bodies with practices that are simple, thoughtful, and truly doable. Her newest book, I Know I Should Exercise But…, reinforces the same idea (and makes an excellent stocking stuffer!). It gives people a grounded, compassionate path into movement, even if they have never thought of themselves as athletic. Katy does not think of herself as an athlete either. She just loves moving her body and helps others rediscover that feeling too.

If you want to hear the full conversation, you can find Episode 192, including the transcript, on the Nutritious Movement website.

A final note. Our holiday sale is closing soon. If you have been considering bringing more movement friendly tools into your home, now is the best time.
