Venn Ambassador Spotlight: Thicha Srivisal - Banker, Dancer, Pilates Instructor

Thicha is a well-traveled, MIT-educated Pilates instructor based in Singapore. Part of her impressive and diverse background includes professional ballet , dance education and banking. After suffering back and ankle injuries in 2002, she experienced the therapeutic benefits of Pilates first-hand and decided she wanted to teach others. She obtained her full STOTT PILATES® certification in 2007 and became a Merrithew™ Instructor Trainer . She holds a Certificate of Higher Education (Dance) from the University of Surrey, UK, an advanced-level certification from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), and is a registered RAD teacher. She is also a certified 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher, GYROTONIC, GYROKINESIS and GYROTONER trainer. 1. Tell us briefly about your work, inspirations and passions. 

Most of my job now involves educating and mentoring new and aspiring Pilates instructors. I am a lead instructor trainer for Merrithew and I teach their educational courses regularly. My inspirations & passions are in movements. I find movements are mesmerizing. I also enjoy mentoring new instructors. It's like watching your own babies grow up and become successful in their careers helping others moving pain free.

2. We're all about movement at Venn. What does a typical day for you look like through the lens of movement?

I usually start early in the morning and reply to overnight emails with a cup of coffee. Then I will do my own exercises -  usually a handstand practice. I'm an inversion addict. If I have to teach Pilates instructor courses, then my afternoon will be dedicated to that. Then I teach clients in the evening. 

3. Why and how do you use a Venn Air Chair? Where in your home, office or workout routine do you use it?

I usually sit on a Vann Air Chair when doing my computer work. It helps keep my ideal posture and prevent me from slouching. I love the design too. It's so unique and modern.

4. What are your favorite Venn Air Chair positions and moves? 

I love lying supine on top of it and stretching my back!

5. At Venn, we zig when others zag. What's something in work or life that you approach differently - philosophically, physically, emotionally-  than others?

 I spend a lot of time thinking about thinking! I like to think about how to think differently and develop a different idea or approach or perspective.
